  Sorry Matt, I just saw this comment. The way I was doing this was by adidng a new class with the selector p.dropcap:first-letter and then adidng that class to the p tag in question in the post itself. Also, the background image is 24 px wide. It could probably be less wide but I wanted to avoid banding in the gradient. I did finally get it to only repeat on the x axis, so now it just drops off into the background grey.??? ()
